I can put you up, I have lots of tents, only kidding. Love to see you in Perth. Give us a bit of notice and we could book a Hills camp site in Lesmurdie. Sit around a fire and tell stories. Accross the road, an open air theatre. Tempted? You deserve it. You have entertained us!
Perth is awesome you guys should really come,we really aren't that far away, I promise. Have loved the updates, great work boys
Chris & Clark's Reply (7th Oct 08)
We are actually coming to Perth in Nov for our principle partner iiNet, but it was just to be a sponsor catch-up, we're trying to see if we can't sort something else out though while we're over there! Stay tuned!
How come i didn't get a mention as a good friend you caught up with in Vancouver? :P
Good to get an update, had been missing them.
Chris & Clark's Reply (3rd Oct 08)
He he. Sorry Georgie! I certainly was going to include you, but we met up with a lot of ppl, and I thought the more ppl I included, the more hurt people I didn't mention would be... It was really lovely catching up with you for dinner though, as you know! =P sorry! =P
Aww wish I could be there, but Mackay beckons for the holidays sorry :p Congratulations and have a great night!
Hear hear! (John L - 25th Sep 08)
Good on you guys! Nice reply.

Despite the educational materials you have compiled for school children, I have to say I feel somewhat sad that one of the last bastions of wilderness was invaded by young 'adventurers' with no scientific background or scientific objective based on the universally accepted scientific method.
If anything, this expedition just emphasizes to me the arrogance of humans and the ridiculous entitlement many feel they have to dominate the planet, merely because they may develop the equipment to do so.
I understand this email may 'rain on your parade' but I am actually quite concered that nobody else has raised any of these issues thus far and would love to hear your response.
Sincerely, Angela Howard, Lawyer and Environmental Manager
Chris & Clark's Reply (25th Sep 08)
Hi Angela,
Thanks for your message; we appreciate your honesty - although clearly we don't agree with you.
We didn't 'invade, or 'conquer' Victoria Island like you may imagine, but merely went there and traveled through the area, left no trace (bringing ALL rubbish away with us and one drop off that'll be picked up by plane), and all in all, we simply raised the awareness to the world that this place exists and should be thought about. We believe that if people realize that these places actually exist, they will be more environmentally conscious in their lifestyles. We didn’t do any scientific work, no, but what would you like us to do? We are not scientists, we documented all discoveries such as Inuit remains, fossils etc... and handed them to the correct people. How would a scientific expedition be any better for the environment than ours? Is it more justified? If you ever met either of us you would realize that no we are not arrogant little adventurers who think they are conquering the world - Victoria Island very much only just let us pass (barely), we simply love the adventure and traveling through such special places - its a bonus if we can share this experience with people through our photography, films, talks and website. Your entitled to your negative opinion towards adventure, but we believe it has many positives when the environment is concerned - there are many adventurers who devote their lives to wildlife and environment conservation. Thanks for your email, it has not rained on our parade - we’d be disappointed if we let one persons opinion affect something we both feel very strongly and passionate about. There really are people exploiting many remote areas in the world, and it may prove more fruitful for lawyers like you to pursue them, rather than a couple of adventurers showing the world how special these places are.
Regards,
Impressed..... (David Spears - 23rd Sep 08)
Got my October edition og Canadian Gegraphic today and really enjoyed learning of your expedition.
According to the poistion shwon on your site have you completed crossinf the island yet? If not when do you expect to?

Keep up the good work
Chris's Reply (23rd Sep 08)
G'day David! I'd love to see the Canadian Geo issue, any chance you could scan it for me or something? Yes, we finished the crossing after 70 days, and are now back home in Sunny Sydney Australia, lapping up the warmth and trying to get back up to speed with everything... hope to get an update on the site in the next week... Cheers, and thanks for the message...
Bless you for that update - and for all the critters you included in the film clip. I hope your feet have recovered well. What I wonder is how long you are going to be able to take "civilization" before you are off again.
Chris & Clark's Reply (21st Sep 08)
Well we're both off again in April 2009, so no chance to even settle back to civilisation in the mean time i'm afraid. it's go-go-go! Crazy. Hope to get an update out soon with the info from getting picked up by the tug through to getting home, and crediting all the competition winners etc... but so far.. no spare time to put fingers to keyboard. Soon.
Very nice video of the backyard. How about one of Chris's first night back in Auzzie Land. Who won the competition you idiots. Was it 69 or 70days. DAAAAAAAA"If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!" - recited by some Czech RAF fighter pilots while flying back to England.
Chris & Clark's Reply (21st Sep 08)
Ha ha. A chap by the name of Ashley Dyke won the #_of_days competition- he guessed 69 days which was the closest to the actual 70. Not bad! =) You just missed out Colin! Thanks for the quote! Catch up soon... sorry for lack of comms.. been hectic here.
Go you good things! Still awed by your acheivement, and very much looking forward to seeing the full documentary. Saw your writeup in the Manly Daily today as well, good for you :)
But some of us are still hanging to find out the result of that 'guess how many days to cross Victoria Island compy you ran... was there a winner? ;-)
Good luck boys, keep in touch...
Adam @ the splash
Chris & Clark's Reply (21st Sep 08)
G'Day Adam! Great to hear from you. FLAT OUT here, going mad. Yup, we did have a winner for the #_of_days competition. Ashley Dyke from Tassie guessed the closest with 69 days (the correct answer bring 70 days). So he has a video iPod on the way, lucky thing! =) I hope to get an update out soon, but just haven't had a spare moment. Soon. Soon....
how are things? (arian - 9th Sep 08)
hi guys!!!
i hope you two are well and enjoying every bits of luxury! you deserve it!
i guess you are back in sydney now! I was wondering how things were going for you two... are you busy with media, conferences, and maybe school talks?
When will you movie be available?
take care!
Chris & Clark's Reply (11th Sep 08)
Hey Arian! Yup, back in Sydney. Soon I'll find some time to dash out a quick update just to close the gap from being on the tug boat to getting home, but run off my feet at the moment... Will let you know when there's movement on the doco...
I watched a clip of you two on the news, and i heard that one of you is interested in sailing the pacific ocean. I have a wooden Gaff Cutter that has sailed the Pacific in the 60's and to a reasonable cause I would donate it. It does need some work, but it is a beautiful boat. I have its 100 000 charted miles and day to day log of its travels for over forty years. Please contact me if you are interested. Stan
HELLO DUDES,

sleds & buggies (Graeme Joy - 25th Aug 08)
Hi Chris & Clark, we got our wires crossed - I meant that I'd rather tow a sled over snow & ice than a a buggy over the tundra.I have walked that stuff before & towed a sled to the NP & MNP. Again the innovations of your buggy & the journey are amazing, well done.
Chris & Clark's Reply (25th Aug 08)
Oh right! Yes, for sure! Lets catch up sometime over a beer, are you ever in Sydney? Drop us an email, contact@1000HourDay.com - love to meet up. cheers
Hello (Michaela - 25th Aug 08)
Hi there,
just wanted to say how inspiring your expedition is and how wonderful it is to see that there are still places left in the world undiscovered.....
Blue skies,
Michaela
Chris's Reply (25th Aug 08)
Hey Michaela, Thanks for your message =) That's what I love about our trip too, it's kinda comforting to know that places like this still exist isn't it. Who'd have guessed that in this day and age the world's 9th largest island still has unexplored regions in it =)
CLARKY (EVIL KNELLI - 25th Aug 08)
I dropped by your place recently and no one was home, I left a note, Months pass and nothing i thought hes propably up a mountain. and then i see you in the paper. Welcome Home guys you are both very inspirational!! Or just plain crazy..lol
Either way I have enjoyed following your trek.
Whats next?
Cheers

Congrats! (Graeme Joy - 24th Aug 08)
Hi Chris & Clark, well done guys, what a fantastic effort!! Full marks also for creating such a cool cross-country buggy, great innovation. Reckon I would rather tow a sled on the ice though. Graeme.
Chris & Clark's Reply (24th Aug 08)
Ha ha, awesome! Thanks for your message. The sled would have been good for the snow and ice but most of the summer it was all rocks and boulder fields and mud... wheels were a must for those parts.. perhaps skis to go under the wheels for the winter part would have been cool...?
Gold (Jacqueline - 24th Aug 08)

Hey guys, I just saw you on the news here in Canada and I cannot believe you guys managed to do this. I suppose up there stopping isn't really an option though. I have recently been thinking about doing a trip or trek rather that would be unique and something I would never forget and seeing people like you succeed is definitely an inspiration. Wish you all the best with your future craziness, Alasdair

Explorers Club Annual Dinner (Peter Hess, Philly Explorers - 20th Aug 08)
Chris & Clarke
I will see what I can do about nominating you guys to make a presentation at the ECAD festivities in NYC in March. I already miss my daily ration of vicarious adventure. I trust that you are both content and have very full stomachs. Would be interested in learning what your body fat percentages were at the beginning and end of your expedition.
Enjoy the adulations for a while!
Chris & Clark's Reply (21st Aug 08)
G'day Peter. That'd be awesome. We hoped to measure our body fat percentages pre and post, but were unable to get our readings taken right before we started and right after we finished which was a shame, and now it is a bit late as, yes, we have had very full stomaches for a while, and a bit fatter now haha.
PARTY!!! (Pirate - 20th Aug 08)
That's great! I saw you dad in Mona Vale and he said, you were trying to get back this weekend, but didnt have any flights yet.

for me, 2010 is the starting year of a long 5 year project in cleaning up mountains! we'll see of sponsorship follows!!! ha ha ha

Chris & Clark's Reply (21st Aug 08)
Hey Arian! Great to hear from you again... likewise, we have gotten used to hearing from you! =P Where are you based? It'd be great to meet up one day for sure. A 5yr mountain cleanup project sounds epic! Good on you, that will be a really rewarding satisfying project, and Im sure you will be able to find enough environmentally aware companies to back you on such a venture. Keep us posted on it. Best of luck with the prep!
Radio Interview (Richard Duncan - 19th Aug 08)
Gents,
Firstly well done. My daughter and I have been following your progress the last 3 months from when we first learnt of your quest in the Manly Daily. You must be very pleased to be back and with the friends and family though you probably miss the adventure.
I have a show on Radio Northern Beachers (Belrose) and would love it if you would join me in the studio for an interview.
My show goes live evry Wednesday between 9.30-11am.
Let me know by email or 0411-549791 if you are interested.
Speak soon.
Richard
Chris & Clark's Reply (19th Aug 08)
G'day Richard.
Thanks for your email. We'd love to come in for an interview, for sure. We re still in Canada at the moment, due back next week... We'll be in touch...
Congrats to both of you, an amazing effort.
How's it being back in civilization, I’m sure one more update of your experiences since returning wouldn't hurt.....
Chris & Clark's Reply (21st Aug 08)
'Just one more man... come on...' =) It's almost like I need to wean everyone off the updates, going cold-turkey seems to be causing a few withdrawl issues... hehe. I'll write another update when we get home, all safe and sound.. To be honest, its hrd to stop writing them, I hd got into such a routine... i really enjoyed it.
